Diagnosis and Management of Acute Bacterial Sinusitis

- Abstract: Sinusitis is one of the most common conditions that primary care physicians encounter. This guideline helps to accurately differentiate between bacterial and viral sinusitis and between chronic and acute sinusitis. The guideline makes recommendations for treatment, follow-up, and referral.
- Target Population: Adults and children older than 6 weeks
- Exclusions:
- • Less than 6 weeks old
- • Immunocompromised or severe underlying systemic disease
- • Complications of acute bacterial sinusitis
- • Hospital acquired sinusitis
