- Abstract: Group A strep is predominantly a disease of youth and occurs mainly in fall, winter and spring. It is nearly always acquired by direct contact with respiratory secretions. This guideline helps to differentiate between viral causes of sore throats and Group A strep. It also offers recommendations on treatment and follow-up.
