Diagnosis and Management of Active Tuberculosis
Description:
The rate of TB in Alberta has increased in the past two years and delays in the diagnosis of tuberculosis have resulted in increased morbidity and mortality, increased transmission of infection, greater need for prolonged isolation, and ultimately higher healthcare costs.

Exclusions:
None. While extrapulmonary TB and preventative therapy for latent tuberculosis infection are relevant to primary care, they are outside the scope of this guideline.
