SCOPE: Summary

ABSTRACT: 
Individuals with hemochromatosis retain too much iron which may be toxic to the tissues in which it is stored. Acquired hemochromatosis. Most individuals with hemochromatosis develop only a few of the problems, with liver involvement being the most common. Significant end-organ damage is rare with a ferritin under 1000 ug/L. The blood (OBC) is normal in genetic hemochromatosis.

TARGET POPULATION: Individuals with hemochromatosis

EXCLUSIONS: None
